Literacy Lab For children entering grade 2 Come have fun while learning with us and get excited about this reading and writing class! Taught by a reading specialist and classroom teachers, Literacy Lab will help your child solidify their reading skills. Your learner will receive a unique assessment to determine what skills will take them to the next level in their reading development. A focus will be on decoding, fluency, and reading books every day at your child’s level. One goal of the program is to improve fluency of reading to make it smoother, faster, and more accurate. All learning will take place in small groups with peers at your child’s skill level. While we will maximize instructional time, we will also have fun through interactive literacy activities including plays and hands-on activities to build reading and writing skills. The class curriculum is facilitated by specialists in Orton-Gillingham, the Wilson program, and the Lucy Calkins writing program.
