Introduction to Chemistry
For children entering grades 6–8
Have you ever wondered what Greek chemistry was like? How were electrons discovered? What those hexagons are that chemists draw? What quantum mechanics are? If you've asked any of these questions, take this course to find out the answers! This course will be an introduction to some favorite chemistry topics, covering topics such as, what the periodic table is, what an element is, how to draw like an organic chemist, the uniqueness of water, some basic chemistry history, and more. This course will provide foundational chemistry knowledge, which will be helpful for future classes. This course will have lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on chemistry experiences to convey topics better and provide some lab experience. The final class will introduce students to the most basic and fun quantum mechanical principles.
