Introduction to Chemistry
For children entering grades 3–5
Have you ever wondered what Greek chemistry was like? How were electrons discovered? What those hexagons are that chemists draw? If you've asked any of these questions (or even if you haven't), take this class to find out the answers! This class will be an introduction to some favorite chemistry topics, covering topics such as what the periodic table is, what an element is, how to draw like an organic chemist, the uniqueness of water, some basic chemistry history, and more. It will provide foundational chemistry knowledge which will be helpful for future classes, along with lots of fun facts to impress friends and family. We will use videos, demonstrations, and hands-on chemistry experiences to better convey topics and provide some lab experience. In the final class, students will explore the most modern atomic structure.
