Creative Writing: Script to Screen
For children entering grades 3–5
In this creative outlet class, students choose between writing a book, a movie script, or a comic book. They will learn the importance of compelling story elements like plot, character development, dialogue, and setting, while practicing planning, drafting, and revision skills. By the end of the course, they will have a version of their project ready to share and keep, and potentially enter into a contest, self-publish, or eventually pitch to a small film company! Students will finish this course with a book, comic, or script that will showcase their ability to tell creative stories and maintain the capacity for long-term planning. The class will cover the same content each session, and we recommend only registering for this class one time.
