Language Arts For children entering grades 4-5 This class will focus on developing reading fluency, core comprehension skills, and vocabulary development. A variety of readings will be used: fiction and nonfiction passages, reader’s theater, poetry, and novel excerpts. This will culminate in a final small group project to show student growth and progress monitoring will be implemented throughout the summer. Students will learn how to break down words into roots/prefixes/suffixes to support vocabulary comprehension. In addition, the students will work on sentence and paragraph formation based on class readings, and develop reading comprehension through class discussion and written responses. The class will cover the same content each session and we recommend only registering for this class only one time. Session I: June 17–June 28 Afternoons: 1:30–3:30 p.m. Instructor: Be Able Learning Services
Participants must be entering grades 4 to 5.
