Globetrotters—Geography Near & Far For children entering grades 3–5 Take a journey around the globe and discover cool things about small towns, bustling cities, small islands, and the vast regions of forest and frozen tundra around the world! Learn how to read a map, make heads or tails of a compass, and recognize flags from places far and near! Your explorer will use atlases, books, and various online resources to gain an understanding of scale, direction, latitude, and longitude while learning the names of the world’s continents and how to use grid lines and symbols to locate places on a map. We will design travel brochures, create mini country maps, and participate in a weekly geography scavenger hunt! Session II: July 1–July 12 Afternoons: 1:30–3:30 p.m. Instructor: Marlease Bushnell
