Description

Elementary Executive Functioning

For children entering grades 4–5

As children move through elementary school, they need and want to be more independent at school and home. This class is designed to build executive functioning skills for independence while doing something fun. Students will explore and choose interesting projects to prepare, while also learning to use executive functioning skills and strategies. These include goal setting, planning, organizing, managing time, remembering steps, checking progress, and staying on task until completion. When things aren’t going as planned, students will learn to manage their frustrations and persevere until they have reached their goal. Using an evidence-based approach, students will learn what executive functioning skills are and multi-sensory strategies to support these skills that can be applied to other daily activities at home and in school.  Activities and games will be incorporated as students learn to work both independently and in a group. The class will cover the same content each session and we recommend only registering for this class one time.
