Hyde Park is a neighborhood steeped in architectural beauty, where historic landmarks and modern structures coexist to tell the story of Chicago’s rich urban legacy. This course offers students an exciting and immersive opportunity to experience their built environment firsthand through guided architectural exploration.
Each week, students will participate in walking field trips to significant sites throughout Hyde Park. From iconic buildings to hidden gems, these excursions will allow students to step inside historic structures and walk in the footsteps of the past—all while developing a deeper appreciation for the architecture that surrounds them every day.
More than just a technical skill, sketching is also a mindful wellness practice—helping students to unwind, focus, and reflect after a full day of academic activity.
We are thrilled to offer this unique opportunity to connect with our neighborhood’s history, architecture, and artistic expression in a meaningful and memorable way.
Participants must currently be in grades 3 to 5.
Registration starts on 08/19/2025 and ends on 08/26/2025.
